Wish I'd had this the day I began studying Mandarin.

I upgraded to a new device and purchases were not automatically restored. There are no settings for this app so the purchase and restore options are hidden behind a tiny remove ads button. This takes you to a page to purchase themes of some sort. The restore purchase button is there but you can't scroll to it and tap before it springs off screen. While doing all of this you are still subject to full screen ads every 30 seconds which makes using the app pointless.

Every 20 to 30 seconds there's an ad that pops up. The App Store shows you can buy the ad removal for $.99, but inside the app you can only purchase the VIP package for $9.99. The VIP package is another app that supposed to teach you pronunciation for Chinese words but I downloaded the free trial it doesn't do anything.

The "Initial final" chart displays all possible Manderin sounds and tones--sound samples are clear and accurate--ads in free version are non-intrusive. 五颗星从黑马

It's been really helpful for my mandarin course

Very useful

It's very good but need to add male voice also. Further how to make these sounds are still ? Even how much I try and think I am doing ok , my chinese friend still says not exact and then he shows how to make exact sound. So please tell also how to make these exact sounds... Thanks

Audio only works with headphones, but this is fine as it helps me while reciting along with the recording of a native speaker. It would be nice to be able to choose male or female voices though. Layout is rational and easy to use, but I would request one feature: the ability to highlight an entire column or row of sounds and listen to them recited with one or multiple tones (a, ba, ca, cha, da, etc.) Overall a high quality pinyin app which I would recommend over others.

This app has been indispensable for learning Chinese. Especially for self study. Learning Chinese? Get this app!!

Audio doesn't work on iPhone 6 Plus 64gb with latest iOS 8.0.x. The only thing good about it is that audio works on the iPad mini 2 with 64gb and latest iOS 8.0.x. For some strange reason this is also the case with another pinyin app made by AllSet. I'm wondering if both companies are using the same core engine to power their apps. Please fix asap and I'll change my review to 5 stars!

It's not the most beautiful app in the world but it works great and it's easy to use!

The iTunes store item says Remove Ads for $.99. Go to the info page and you don’t see remove ads, you see daisy or something. I spent $.99 and still have ads. I wrote to the developer, no response, they clearly don’t care.

Yo I paid for this and there's ads at the bottom?? I don't think there used to be. Was about to gift this to a friend and have recommended it in the past, but won't be doing that again unless the ads are gone quick.

Have the whole pinyin chart, but no sound!!

Unable to hear anything! App says I should be able to hear sounds & this is the most important feature needed for tonal pronunciation. Any help for this issue?

Living in China, I find the correct pronunciation to be essential to be understood. Thanks for the great chart.

This is a simple chart but it is very useful for the beginning student. It does not have the tones but I refer to it often to check my pronunciation.

I am taking Chinese for the first time at college, and this app is PERFECT when it comes to correct pronunciation during homework or when I am studying for a test! I love it!

I love the app. But then there's the invasive advertising that rudely comes in at random when your using the app. And it does not go away until you delete the app. I would rather purchase an app without being bombarded while trying to learn than get this 'free' app that has fn strings attached! Is there no end to the freaking advertising!!! I'm so sick of it!!!

I love this. They have these charts online but they don't work on my phone. This has all the sounds and tones, and even with some sounds (like ma) it has the fifth tone which others don't even have. Easy to use, and it's free!

This app is great especially if you want a study aid for clearer pronunciation. I'm only 14 and using this with my other apps do help a lot! I hope your efforts in learning Chinese pay off!!
